Meet our company: Combiforest OÜ

The starting point of every timber industry value chain is the forest. Our procurement company, Combiforest OÜ, knows how to manage forests sustainably and wisely. Their work doesn’t begin in a factory, but in Estonian forests, where decisions are made responsibly and with an eye to the future.

Combiforest is a Combiwood Group company, whose main task is to ensure that quality raw material reaches our production units. The company buys forest material and felling rights, organizes felling operations and timber transport. Thanks to this, our raw material base is strong, stable and domestic.

The wood procured by Combiforest reaches our sawmills and production, where it becomes door frames, moldings, panels, furniture components, and much more. Therefore, Combiforest’s procurement activity is of strategic importance in the entire Combiwood value chain.

Roots Date Back More Than 30 Years

Although the name Combiforest OÜ is new in our group, the company’s roots stretch back decades. In 1992 and 1994, timber procurement companies AS Mets & Puu and AS Metsind were founded in Estonia, the latter as a subsidiary of the Finnish timber industry group Metsä. In 2002, the companies merged, continuing Metsä’s activities in Estonia.

In 2024, Combiwood Group acquired the business operations of Metsä Forest Eesti AS, Metsä Group’s Estonian subsidiary. We did not just want a partnership; we decided to take the next step and make timber procurement an in-group competence. This is how Combiforest OÜ was born – with the same team, experience, and working methods, but with a clear focus on Combiwood’s needs.

Presence Throughout Estonia

Combiforest operates all over Estonia, to be close to both forest owners and industrial partners. This allows for flexible reaction to our group’s needs. The company’s offices are located in Tallinn, Tartu, Reopalu, Kunda, and Pärnu.

A Large Part of Our Sawlog Raw Material Comes from Combiforest

Today, Combiforest supplies Combiwood Group’s sawmills with softwood and birch sawlogs. This is one of the main reasons why we value our procurement capability so highly. Thanks to this, we are able to offer our clients stability, precision, and a sense of certainty – we know where our material comes from, and we know that it has been procured correctly.

Control over our supply chain enables us to plan better and take responsibility. We do not depend on short-term deliveries or price fluctuations – we do our thing with our knowledge and team. Combiforest has FSC® and PEFC™ chain of custody certificates, which confirm that our procurement is carried out responsibly and sustainably. These are not just labels, but ways of working that their team follows daily. The wood that moves into our sawmills and production units is always sourced in a way that meets laws and environmental standards.

Lasting Value Within the Group

Combiforest is a strategically very important part of our group, working daily to ensure that our group’s production units have the necessary raw material at the right time and in the right volume. Thanks to their work, we can focus on what we do best – timber value adding, product development and maintaining quality. For us, it is important to know where the wood comes from. Thanks to Combiforest, we know.
