Meet our company: Leigola OÜ – Hardwood processing

Every wood processing company chooses its own path. Some focus on high volume, others on complex design. Leigola OÜ chose its direction back in 2002 – hardwood (oak, ash, beech). Today, Leigola operates in two production facilities in Viljandi and is part of Combiwood Group.

Hardwood that requires a different approach

While pine can be mass-produced, working with oak or beech requires a different approach, machinery, and experience. The material is sensitive to moisture and temperature fluctuations, it is significantly more expensive, and every defect shows. The cut must be right, the planing must be right, the gluing and drying must be right.

Oak, beech, and ash are wood materials that are particularly well-suited for prestigious spaces and higher-value projects. Door thresholds, mouldings, cladding boards, interior door elements, and furniture components are products that must last for decades and maintain their appearance.

Working with hardwood

Over the years, Leigola’s team has developed precise processes where every detail, from raw material selection to finishing, goes through strict quality control. Working with hardwood is not just a matter of technology – it is also experience and understanding of material properties. The factory employs specialists who understand the characteristics of each wood species and know how to get the maximum out of it. It is precisely this thoroughness and expertise that ensures the products will last for generations.

Over one million thresholds and 3 million meters of mouldings annually

Leigola produces approximately 1.2 million door thresholds and 3 million metres of hardwood moulding per year. In addition, the factory manufactures furniture components and interior design elements. Production includes both series orders and smaller custom orders for architects and construction projects.

This has been the company’s strength from the beginning. Thanks to flexible production and an experienced team, they can respond quickly and provide solutions that larger competitors may not be able to offer.

This capability has helped Leigola build long-term partnerships both in Estonia and in foreign markets.

Expansion and strategic investments

Leigola has grown rapidly in recent years. The company has expanded into new production buildings and continues to invest in technology. New rip saws, planers, finishing and measurement solutions improve and accelerate material usage – every centimetre of wood must go into the product, not into waste.

In addition, a project is underway to integrate an ERP system into the production process so that every piece of raw material is traceable and maximum value can be extracted from each material. When working with hardwood, there is no room for mistakes.

Joining Combiwood Group

Leigola joined Combiwood Group at the end of 2024, which was an important step forward. The group’s support helps the company expand into new markets and make larger investments. New machinery, digitalisation, energy efficiency improvements – all of these require capital and long-term plans. As part of a larger group, these investments are easier to make.

The company continues to specialise in quality wood processing and is developing greater capacity to produce both volume and custom orders. Investments continue, production space is growing, but the principle remains the same – quality, flexibility, and the skill to work with materials that require attention. For us, it is important that the group has a company that knows hardwood. Thanks to Leigola, we now have it.
